Once upon a time,
There was a town by the name of ‘Hearts-Full’. But unlike the name, nothing was full in this town - not hearts, not joy, and certainly not tummies.
Even on Christmas, it was dark and gloomy, like a town run by The Grinch. And just like the ‘Mean One’, the people were all naughty, not nice.
Except for one Man...
This Man was holly, jolly, and loved the holiday season.
He would wipe away the people’s fear and lovingly spread Christmas cheer.
The Man did this with a loving “Merry Christmas!” A nice warm hug and his magically delicious Christmas biscuits!
His biscuits came in all flavours, shapes, and sizes. There were lovely green Christmas trees, Snowmen, and crumbs of old Saint Nick spread around mouths in ‘Hearts-Full’.
After every loud “CRUNCH,” “CRUNCH,” and giant “G-ULP,” a sea of smiles swept the town of ‘Hearts-Full’. But every year, after every round of biscuits, one person would always ask The Man: “Why give us biscuits? We’re naughty, not nice.”
The Man would always respond the same way. With a big smile, he would say: “It’s Christmas. Leave the naughtiness behind and spend it being kind.”
That was until one fateful Christmas night.
On this night, after every “CRUNCH,” “CRUNCH,” and giant “G-ULP,” smiles didn’t sweep the town... ANGER did.
The people didn’t ask a question. They demanded: “MORE!” “MORE!” “MORE!”
And when biscuits were no more, the people shouted, looted, and booted The Man.
From this day on, The Man had no more greetings. No more biscuits and no more love for Christmas.
In one fell swoop, they made The Man ‘Hearts-Full’s’ ultimate Christmas Grouch and sent him permanently to his couch.
If anyone dared knock on The Grouch’s door with some Christmas cheer, they were quickly selected, rejected, and ejected!
One Christmas passed, and so did another. With each holiday season gone, an experience was lost, as was The Grouch’s holiday cheer.
Years later, on a snowy Christmas day, the town of ‘Hearts-Full’ was full of lights, joy, and Christmas spirit. All except, The Christmas Grouch.
And no one dared knock on The Grouch’s door... apart from one sweet Little Girl.
The Little Girl, with her bright red mittens, went from one house to another, gifting everyone with a sparkly little box.
Without any hesitation or fear, she took her tiny steps to The Grouch’s door, intent on spreading more Christmas cheer.
Like everybody else, after her knocks, she was quickly selected, rejected, and ejected!
But unlike everybody else, she tried again... and again.
On the third try, The Little Girl didn’t knock or shout; she kindly put the sparkly box down by the door and said: “Merry Christmas!”
The Grouch couldn’t believe it. He stormed out and opened the sparkly box. In one moment, his frown turned upside down.
In the box were Christmas biscuits of different flavours, shapes, and sizes.
The Grouch proceeded to “CRUNCH,” “CRUNCH,” before finishing off with a giant “G-ULP!”
The town of ‘Hearts-Full’ was STUNNED while the sweet Little Girl smiled.
Confused, The Grouch asked the Little Girl: “Why give me Biscuits? I’m naughty, not nice.”
The Little Girl simply smiled and said: “It’s Christmas. Leave the naughtiness behind and spend it being kind.”
A tear rolled down The Grouch’s face, as the Little Girl reminded him what Christmas was all about.
And since that day, The Grouch has once again become The Man who wipes away people’s fear and lovingly spreads Christmas cheer.
The end.
